Nate Horne and his sustainable closet

Sustainable fashion has become a hot topic within the fashion industry and many consumers are starting to look at how their purchasing habits impact not only the environment but labor workers as well. Fast fashion has the biggest impact on these issues and University of Portland student, Nate Horne, has been changing up his consumer habits by buying second hand and styling hand-me-downs within his closet. Through thrifting, he has found some of his favorite pieces and finds solace knowing that he is crafting his wardrobe in a more ethical way. Here is an inside look as to what that looks like on a college student budget.

Nate Horne's closet consists mostly of thrifted or gifted pieces because of his belief in sustainable fashion. His aesthetic color scheme is influenced by neutral tones, mainly black, brown, forest green, and tan.

Horne likes to embellish his outfits with small and simplistic jewelry. The green pendant was a gift from a friend. They have matching pendents, his is the color of her eye and her's is the color of his.

This ring was a gift from a friend, he likes the little details on the sides and the flatness on the top.
