Control Found Within Coffee

Every trip to Cathedral starts the same way. This is the beginning moment of control that George seeks within this daily routine. While simple, the ability to be able to drive himself to his preferred destination makes him feel a sense of empowerment.

Coming here, George gets to order what he wants. Him being able to make this decision on what he wants to drink strengthens his confidence in this journey of control

Before enjoying his coffee, George cuts himself off from the outside world by turning his phone off.  This allows him to engage in the present moment to his maximum ability.

George has found reading is one of the best possible ways to practice being in the moment. He makes it his goal to read at least 2 pages from a new book every trip.

Even though George gets the same coffee on every visit, he does appreciate the variation that takes place within the coffee every time he comes. It helps him understand that while being in control is great, sometimes there are certain things that are out of your control, and putting too much time and energy into these factors can be wasteful.

George reflects on this time of control. While simple, it makes him feel like he is ready to take on the week and that he can control anything that the pandemic may throw at him.
